A Howling Good Time to Benefit SNAP & SPOT!
Event proceeds serve a dual purpose of reducing pet overpopulation and rescuing more pets.
San Diego, October 2017 – The Spay-Neuter Action Project of San Diego, today announced the highly anticipated arrival of the Howl-o-Wine fundraiser, at Witch Creek Winery in Carlsbad from 12:30-3:00 pm.
SNAP, as known around the community, is a registered, non-profit organization that dates back to 1990, to reduce the number of unwanted pets in San Diego County. Affordable spay/neuter services are offered through mobile clinics in primarily lower-income neighborhoods. An average of 500 surgeries are performed each month by fully trained and California State licensed veterinarians with support from credentialed medical assistants, in the hospital-grade operating suite located inside the “Neuter Scooter” surgical bus, that travels to targeted communities. Over 60,000 combined cats and dogs have been altered since 2003.
SPOT, or Saving Pets One at Time, is a registered, non-profit organization, that advocates for homeless dogs and cats at risk for euthanasia. Their goal is to save treatable, trainable, manageable and misdiagnosed animals from San Diego shelters through a transport, training, fostering and adoption system. SPOTs ultimate wish is to empty shelters, to do away with animal abandonment and the need to euthanize one animal to make room for another. To this end, they also advocate for results-oriented spay/neuter programs, and TNR (trap, neuter, release) programs for feral cats.
“Witch Creek Winery is the perfect location for this Spooktacular event that will feature wine tasting, food, music, costume contests for people and pets, live music, and great array of raffle items,” said Dorell Sackett, SNAP Executive Director. She added, “being paired with SPOT makes this event much more extraordinary because we are in this together, to reduce the suffering of companion animals and keep chipping away at pet overpopulation in San Diego County.” Dogs of all ages are welcome, but human guests must be 21 and over!
